Granddaughter

Our ninth grandchild has arrived and she is a beautiful little girl named Mio. She was born Saturday, July 24 at 0539 and weighed 8lb 4oz so she is nicely rounded and easy to hold. Her brothers adore her, as do, needless to say, her parents and grandparents. And I was able to go out and buy pink things!

Emma Lake

We had an enjoyable, though somewhat rainy weekend at Emma Lake with The Sisters, The Outlaws and Johnny and Krystal. The water was warm, meals exquisite and the sing songs, crib games and hilarity all as memorable as ever.

Calgary Stampede

This Tuesday, even though it was poring rain, Grampa Jar, Granny Bean, James and Eli met the Taits on the stampede grounds for some fun. We ate pizza, mini doughnuts, ice cream and rode on motorcycle, truck, and car rides, toured the Haunted House (twice ) and Looney Tunes House, watched the Superdogs perform, listened to Bobs and Lolo and played in the Little Buckeroo area. A good time was had by all!

Saltspring Island

I had a great week-end with Davin and Owen on Saltspring Island while Lan and Sean had a getaway in Victoria. Unfortunately I forgot my camera so there is no visual documentation of my trip but, be it known that we had such fun swimming in Cusheon Lake, reading stories, hiking in Burgoyne Bay Provincial Park, eating ice cream cones, playing soccer, dining at the Oyster Catcher, strolling along Ganges Harbour, drinking slushies , attending the market and eating Phat Thai, walking in the mucky water when the tide was out, swimming in Stowel Lake, dining at the Rock Salt, strolling along the Fulford Harbour, playing board games and watching World Cup soccer. Love you grandkids #1 and #3!

Birthday

Mom celebrated her 89th birthday with all three of her daughters. How special it is when we are all together.

Croatia

We had a wonderful trip to Croatia with Pat and Audrey. We viewed Roman ruins, Venetian castles, Dalmatian fortresses, hiked in National Parks, swam in Adriatic water, dined on the finest food and wine and enjoyed each day with our friends

Oxford

We had a delightful stay with the M'akls at the beginning of June. We did two wonderful walks along public footpaths through meadows, fields and forests with glorious views of the English countryside with traditional food in quaint local pubs at the end of each trek. Another highlight was a cycle trip that all six of us did into Oxford to view the Iffley Roundabout, Ellis' birthplace and a rowing match on the Thames. The biggest highlight was, of course, just spending time with Lucinda and Kevin and our sweet (almost) British grandsons
